About Us
This is the obligatory “about us” page. Of course, there is no “us” to this site. I suppose I could say it’s an about “me” page but I won’t because it’s not. There will be nothing on this page about me. In fact, there will be scant information in here about this site in general. Here it is in a nutshell…
What this site is not. It’s not a store. It’s not a very good information site. It’s not very important in the grand scheme of things. It’s not a site that gets lots of visitors. In fact, if you’re a human and you’re reading this, then you’re probably doing something that very few people in all of history have done.
What this site is. It’s a repository for content and a vehicle to generate some cheesy linkage to other sites. I wouldn’t even have an “about us” page but I think I remember reading somewhere that the big G looks for sites with the “about us” and “contact us” pages when they’re weighing a site’s legitimacy. So that’s why it’s here.
Another thing, I like to put in a few obscure long-tail keyword phrases in my about pages like this: purple chicken science experiments. How many pages on the entire Internet do you think have these four words strung together like this? Not many, I can assure you. So this simple experiment is to see how quickly this page gets crawled by the arachnids and to see how long it takes to rank for purple chicken science experiments. As I type this page, June 7th, 2008, there were more than 700,000 pages returned from this search. Click here to see if this silly “about us” page is one of them and if so, where does it show up.
One other thing… why the Virginia in the site’s name? Well, no reason really except that’s where I live. I was recently searching for any available four-letter domains and since there are so few left when I stumbled upon this one that I could pretend stood for something I snatched it up. I do operate a toy store and would eventually like to produce and manufacture my own toys. If I ever get to that point, I suppose I could call that company the Virginia Science Toy Company. So this is not a bad domain name to have for sometime down the road…
